More familiar as the open source community. For the lesser geeks among us, the open source community provides free products that have been developed by many different people…for free! Why would they participate in the hard work of development? Well, one known philosophy of the contributing programmers is that alllsoftware should be free and open source. Not only to speed up development but, also to verify as a community that the products are free of spyware and all that stuff! So, basically the community verifies the software for you. However, a note of caution is required. Although many of the communities are well established (like joomla, wordpress, mozilla, , lynux, open-office), not all of them are. Alos you must consider that it is best to learn a little about the product before rushing in to using it. Remember it is an open source and therefor not neciserally finsished or completed. Tell a friend is very popular and a great way to get more people to your website based on recommendation. Although it is not the easiest program to be accepted to it is surely worth the time it takes to get a free account. While many marketers will promote the next new over-hyped script for managing your content I’ve always wondered why they don’t at least include a little about the open source community where you’ll be able to find all you’ll ever need. I do agree that sometimes open source scripts can become a little more complicated then those small CMS scripts that mostly do ONE task particularly well but, when you’ve mastered the few skills needed to maintain such an OS (open source) script, you’ll get so much more for less money…Uhm, I mean for free! And let’s not fool each other! Those scripts designed by the marketing community cost you an arm and a leg and basically they have taken the idea from the OS community in the first place.
